It’s time to swap pedal power for relaxed strides with the Raspberry Pi-assisted Draisine from bicyle-modding pro Prof. Holger Hermanns. So dandy… A Draisine… If you have children yourself or have seen them in the wild on occasion, you may be aware of how much they like balance bikes – bicycle frames without pedals, propelled by striding while sitting on the seat.

Hello World issue 2: celebrating ten years of Scratch

Hello World is our magazine about computing and digital making, written by educators, for educators. It  is a collaboration between the Raspberry Pi Foundation and Computing at School , part of the British Computing Society . We’ve been extremely fortunate to be granted an exclusive interview with Mitch Resnick , Leader of the Scratch Team at MIT, and it’s in the latest issue. All around the world, educators and enthusiasts are celebrating ten years of Scratch, MIT’s block-based programming language. Raspberry Pi Watch, Dr Who Style

Back in the mists of time, when Apple released the Apple Watch, there was gentle buzz in the Raspberry Pi community about the Raspberry Pi’s potential in DIY smartwatch projects. That gentle buzzing subsided, like the buzzing of a wasp succumbing to flypaper, pretty quickly once people realised that a regular Raspberry Pi, while very tiny when compared to your desktop computer, is actually a bit massive when compared to your standard watch.
