The Raspberry Pi PiServer tool

As Simon mentioned in his recent blog post about Raspbian Stretch, we have developed a new piece of software called PiServer. Use this tool to easily set up a network of client Raspberry Pis connected to a single x86-based server via Ethernet.

Xenon Death Flash: a free physics lesson

If you own a Raspberry Pi 2, congratulations: you’re also the proud owner of an elegant demonstration of the photoelectric effect! At the weekend, Peter Onion, a veteran of our forums and of Raspberry Jams in Cambridge, Bletchley and surrounding areas (visible, costumed, in the background of this photo at the Christmas CamJam), discovered what we think might be the most adorable bug we’ve ever come across. Forums down this weekend for maintenance

We’ve had an issue this afternoon with some corruption in the forums database, which means that a lot of you can’t log in, and can’t see your old posts. We’re going to take the forums down completely later this evening, while we try to fix the problem. It’s possible that when they come back up (which we hope will be tomorrow or Monday ) all posts made today will be lost: we’re very sorry!

Welcome Dave!

Carrie Anne wasn’t our only new starter on Monday: we’ve also welcomed Dave Honess to the team. Dave will be familiar to many of you as Davespice from our forums, where he’s one of our moderators; he’s also been helping me moderate the comments on this blog for a year or so now, and he’s a mod on the Freenode #raspberrypi IRC channel. Dave writes for The MagPi (as Davespice), and he’s behind the porting and uploading of lots of the retro games you’ll see at the Pi Store
